Privacy Policy

Veris is built with privacy as a core principle. We collect as little data as possible and keep your vocabulary on your own devices.

1. Data We Do Not Collect

Veris does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on our servers. Specifically, we never receive:

  • Your saved vocabulary or translations
  • Your browsing history or the pages you visit
  • Your name, email address, or any account information (beyond what Lemon Squeezy handles for payments)
  • Usage analytics or telemetry

2. Local Storage (IndexedDB)

All vocabulary data — words, translations, sentence context, source URLs, and SRS metadata — is stored exclusively in your browser using IndexedDB. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use the Google Drive sync feature (Premium).

3. Google Drive Sync (Premium)

If you choose to enable Google Drive sync, Veris stores a backup of your vocabulary in a dedicated folder (Veris/) inside your own Google Drive account. This data is controlled entirely by you. Veris servers never receive or process this data. Sync requires you to authorize the extension with the minimum necessary Google Drive scope (drive.file), which limits access to files Veris itself creates.

4. Chrome Translation API

Veris uses Chrome's built-in Translation API for offline translation. Translation processing occurs locally on your device. Google's own privacy policy governs the Chrome browser and its built-in APIs. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Payments (Lemon Squeezy)

Premium license purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor. When you purchase a license, Lemon Squeezy collects your payment and billing information. Veris does not receive or store your payment details. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy applies to that transaction.

6. License Activation

When you activate a Premium license, the extension sends your license key to Lemon Squeezy's API to verify its validity. No other personal information is transmitted. The verification result is stored locally in chrome.storage.local.

7. No Advertising or Tracking

Veris does not use any advertising networks, tracking pixels, third-party analytics, or user profiling of any kind.

8. Your Rights

Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete or provide on request. Your vocabulary data is fully under your control: you can export it as a CSV, delete individual entries, or clear all data from within the extension at any time.

9. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Veris after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
